If you work on a Mac late in the day, Sundown handles the screen for you. It sits in the menu bar, and at the times you set it moves the display from ordinary 6500 K white toward amber and red, down to 500 K in steps of 100 K, while dimming brightness. A slider lets you pick a warmth by hand whenever you like. It is for anyone on macOS 14 or later who wants the display to follow the evening without fiddling. Jack Richards makes it. If you want the background, the Sundown site has a page called The science behind Sundown, which covers the research on evening light, and another called Screen flicker and eye strain research, which puts 29 PubMed-cited studies into an evidence table with an honest note about where the evidence is thin.
